So many questions, doubts and confusions often arise in the woman’s mind soon after the pregnancy is confirmed, and for a first-time mother it is doubly so. She typically feels:

  • What will happen?
  • Will I have to stop working? How will I manage pregnancy & work?
  • Will I put on a lot of weight? Will I get back in shape after child-birth?
  • What am I supposed to do to remain fit during pregnancy?
  • Will I be able to handle the baby?
  • What kind of precautions should I keep in mind?

General Information about pregnancy and child-birth

Pregnancy brings an enormous amount of physiological and psychological changes, which are triggered by a massive increase in hormonal orchestra during pregnancy and child-birth. It is hard to imagine how many changes a pregnant body goes through in such short time.

Every pregnant woman and her spouse should be aware of these changes so that they are prepared for it physically and mentally throughout the pregnancy, as well as during labour and after child-birth.

At REVIVE, we help you and your partner understand these changes in each trimester in a simpler manner so that you know how your body changes during and after pregnancy.

It is very important for the fathers-to-be to attend these sessions. They help them understand the increasing physical, emotional and nutritional demands of their wives and provide them genuine support, love and care.

Ante-natal sessions

Many extraordinary and rapid physiological and psychological changes occur in a woman’s body during and after pregnancy, and they all require significant adaptations.

These changes make you weak, lethargic and irritated at times and they are associated with pain (spinal or pelvic), discomfort in upper back, lower back, ribs, legs and pelvic area, postural abnormalities specific to pregnancy, weakening of abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, aggravation of old or chronic musculoskeletal injury or disorder.

These discomforts are the result of the change in the alignment of the spine in accordance with the growing baby, and therefore aches, pain and stiffness are more evident from the second half of pregnancy. The muscular discomforts during pregnancy are also the result of weak core muscles which experience increasing weight of the baby throughout the pregnancy.
Also the hormones, which are released in the body from the moment your baby has been implanted in your womb, cause many physiological changes and causes musculoskeletal pains and discomforts. These aches and pains can be controlled or relieved effectively by physiotherapeutic interventions.

At REVIVE we help you manage your aches, pains and discomforts with hands-on customised programs. We understand that every woman in every pregnancy is different, and therefore we have customized our intervention programs to suit individual clients.

Post-natal session

The arrival of a new baby is a special event. The special event requires special care for Mother & child.

The period after delivery involves mixed events of emotion that a new mother experiences like feeling of joy, apprehension, excitement, irritability, fear and fatigue.

Throughout pregnancy and labour, a woman experiences several physical changes in her body, and getting back to pre-pregnancy stage after delivery requires some efforts.

During post-natal period, new mothers are susceptible to a wide range of problems, such as painful perineum, varicose veins, pain in and around breast tissue, urinary incontinence or retention of urine, bowel problems, diastasis recti, neck pain, back pain, pubic symphysis pain, coccydenia and fatigue.

Our post-natal program focuses on these issues while helping the Mother handle this new phase in life and enjoy a physically healthy motherhood that she rightly deserves.
