Urinary Incontinence

Involuntary loss of urine or inability to control urination is termed as urinary incontinence.

It is seen twice as much in females than in males, and older women suffer more than the younger ones.

The causes of Urinary incontinence are several:  pregnancy, labor, delivery (normal or C-section), menopause, diabetes, neurogenic cause, and aging, which cause weakness of pelvic floor and urethral muscles.

Usually, women suffering from Urinary incontinence suffer in silence due to embarrassment as they feel ashamed of discussing it with their spouse, friend, close relatives and even doctors.

It affects the quality of life, keeps the person way from enjoying regular activities with her family and friends and causes emotional distress.

This matter should be discussed with your health care professional so that appropriate measures may be taken to deal with it.

Go through our questionnaire and verify for yourself if you are a patient of this condition.

If your answer is YES to any one or all of the questions, consult our Physiotherapists and Pilates instructor at REVIVE for an exercise program best suitable for you.

  • Do you feel loss of urine (leak) from your bladder when you cough, sneeze, laugh, lift some heavy weight or perform some exercise?
  • Do you feel sudden urge to urinate and leak on the way to bathroom because of lack of bladder control?
  • Do you always want to be aware of the location of toilet at a new place in case of urgency?
  • Do you wear pads in social gatherings to avoid embarrassment?

At Revive, our treatment concentrates on two crucial aspects:

Post-Mastectomy Rehabilitation

Mastectomy is a surgical procedure whereby one or both the breast tissues are removed in order to treat breast cancer.

There are many physical and emotional challenges a woman goes through after the surgery:

  • Pain at the site of surgery
  • Pain and oedema on the operated side - shoulder joint and arm
  • Formation of scar tissue, which decreases shoulder mobility and results in shoulder stiffness and muscle weakness
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Sense of loss of female identity - breasts are culturally perceived as being naturally linked to femininity - which can put a serious strain on her emotional status.

At REVIVE, we offer a team of expert Physiotherapists, Pilates instructors, Counsellors and Nutritionists, who will be by your side throughout this particularly difficult phase of recovery.

Check out REVIVE’s PINK RIBBON PROGRAM for more details.
